6 tips for keeping your home clean for your holiday party: Part Two

Preparing for your holiday party can be difficult. You have a lot to think about, especially if you're cooking, entertaining and dealing with lodging and traveling logistics.

To make things easier for you, we've put together a list of six areas of your home that need to be cleaned and how to clean them. In part one of our two-part series, we explained how to clean two areas of your house that guests would most likely congregate: the kitchen and bathroom. Now we'll move  on to the bathroom and guest bedrooms.

1. Bathrooms

Make sure to clean both the downstairs and upstairs bathrooms. Before cleaning, gather your cleaning supplies. Some of these items include:

  • Gloves
  • Bathroom cleaning spray
  • Scrub brush
  • Bucket
  • Toilet Brush
  • Clean rags
  • Broom and a dustpan
  • Floor and window cleaners.

Before cleaning, vacuum and dust. Work from top to bottom, dusting light fixtures and shelves before moving on to the floor. When you're finished dusting, start scrubbing away.

2. Guest bedrooms

Start cleaning the bedroom from one side of the room to the other. And work from top to bottom, dusting fans and then vacuuming the floor. Take out any boxes or belongings that you stored in the bedroom. Dress the bed with clean sheets and pillows and wash dressers. By the time you're done cleaning, the room should smell like it's never been used before.
