Nanny at the beach: Some summer childcare tips

Newport Beach can be a great place for outdoor fun this summer, with places like Corona del Mar State Beach offering some prime places to relax. A nanny could take your kids somewhere like this, but if he or she does, there are a few things you'll want to make sure of first. You can ask your nanny questions about the following during the interview, or call to check and make sure there are no problems.

Firstly, you'll need to know how they plan to get there. Whether the nanny is driving or not, the way they're getting there should be pretty straightforward. Chances are, you'll probably have an easy opportunity to ask about the nanny's driving experience early on, including whether they have a license.

Another essential concern is the nanny's emergency skills. If this person is bringing children to the water, it's a good idea to ask about CPR certification or any first aid measures that might be used. It also helps to know whether or not the nanny can swim and where the beach itself is.

There are also practical issues to take in mind, particularly involving money and time. Will the Nanny need extra money for the day out, and will you have to pay any additional fees? If there's a lengthy car ride involved, gas fare could come up. Planning out the timing of the trip may also impact payment, as you address how long the day will last. A vacation for your children is not the same thing as one for the nanny.

Find a nanny near you who has the skills and know-how to keep your kids safe while showing them a fun time.
