4 mistakes professionals make and how to avoid them: Part One

Whether you're a nurse, personal assistant, nanny or chef, you know how important it is to make a great impression all of the time. You need to be at your best whether you're taking care of an elderly couple, emailing clients, babysitting children or cooking dinner for a family. To be at your best, you must understand what not to do.

Here are two mistakes all professionals have made at some point in their careers. While we know mistakes happen, it's best to avoid the following:

1. Being tardy

Do not be late under any circumstances. When you work at a large company, you may be able to get away with being late every so often as long as you let your boss know. However, as a personal assistant, being late could cause your boss to miss his or her plane. If you're a nurse or nanny, being late may result in people not getting their medicine on time or children being late for school. As a personal chef, not arriving to work on time could delay dinner, leaving a bad taste in the family's mouth.

2. Failing to study craft

It doesn't matter whether you're new to a trade or have 20 years of experience in an industry, you should always be studying. Here at Colonial Domestic, we only hire experienced professionals, but we also make sure these professionals have a desire to grow in their field.
