Nanny Tips

4 tips for nannies to make Thanksgiving special: Part One

If you're a nanny, it's important to know how to help a family during the holidays. After all, this time of year is usually much busier than others.

In part one of our two-part series, we explore a couple of ways you can make a family — and your Thanksgiving — special.

1. Have fun with projects

There's no better way to get into the holiday spirit than by completing fun art projects with the kids. One project you can try is creating hand turkeys. A hand turkey is very easy to make and once the children make one, they're bound to make a whole handful!

To create a turkey, have the children trace their hands with a pencil around a piece of construction paper. Then carefully cut out the hand. Attach beads, strings and other art supplies to make the paper look like a turkey.

2. Help with the cooking

If the parents are hosting family and friends, make sure to offer to help them cook for the big day. Even if you have the holiday off, offer to help them go grocery shopping or do some prep work. A few days before the holiday, do all or some of the grocery shopping for them. You can even take the kids with you and have them help you pick out the ingredients.
