A happy crew is a more productive crew. If you feel like your crew is unhappy, it's important to step in and rectify the situation. Not only will this help employees be more productive but it'll increase the chance they stay on board. Hiring new workers can be very time consuming and expensive.
Improving relations is not difficult, but it will take some time. Here are a couple of tips to help you get started:
1. Call a team meeting and make a plan
You can't solve the problem if you don't know what your employees are having trouble with. Call a team meeting and ask employees about what it's like working for you. What do they enjoy? What do they want to see improved? Then, make a plan that all of you will follow in the coming weeks. While every plan is different, the the end goal is to always fix problems.
If you're having an issue with only one or two employees, it's best to meet with them one-on-one so you don't single them out in front of their peers.
2. Recognize important events
Celebrate your employees' birthdays. Recognize religious and national holidays. Have an employee-only party. These are perfect ways to keep them in high spirits. Of course, you won't be able to give all employees the day off on holidays. But, you could rotate employees so they can spend time with their families.
