How to be confident during a job interview

A job interview is an important aspect of your career path, allowing your prospective employer to meet you in person and see if you'd be a great fit in their household. Evidently, if you're called in for an interview, the employer already thinks you could me an excellent match for the position. Don't let nerves get to you and successfully showcase your skills by following these helpful tips.

  • Be yourself: If you're a nanny or housekeeper, you'll be spending a lot of time in the household you are working in, and will probably even develop friendships. Nobody wants to see the robotic version of yourself, so don't be afraid to let your personality shine through. This way, you'll also see if there's natural chemistry between you and your employer.
  • Dress the part: How you dress can not only make an important impact on your first impression, it can also affect your overall confidence. Do you ever notice that when your outfit is clean and presentable, you feel like you can take on the world? Be sure to pick out your attire at least a day before your big interview. Ensure that your wardrobe fits correctly and is free of any stains of wrinkles.
  • Show rather than tell: Your resume is already telling your skills, but you also want to show how you've implemented these important qualities. The interview is a great way to show your personal story. For instance, if while working as a nanny you've helped a child study for an upcoming test and he earned a high grade, be sure to mention this in your interview.
