Nanny Services

Hollywood’s most famous nanny turns 50

Today, the 50th anniversary of Disney's popular film "Mary Poppins," is an excellent day to appreciate all that nannies do for us.

"Mary Poppins" marked the film-debut of Julie Andrews, the award winning actress who would go on to play even more iconic roles, including Maria Von Trapp in "The Sound of Music," and the dual-gendered lead in "Victor/Victoria," for which she won a Golden Globe award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. Andrews brought the magical nanny to life in "Mary Poppins," delighting children then and now. But it's real-life nannies that deserve praise today.

The film was an adaptation of the eponymous novel by P.L. Travers. Through Travers was not fond of the film version of her work, it shot the book to new fame across the globe and remains a classic favorite of children to this day. Andrews won an Academy Award for Best Actress for the film, and it was nominated for 13 other awards, winning four of them. The taut relationship between Travers and Walt Disney over the film was more recently explored in the movie "Saving Mr. Banks."

Nannies in LA provide significant services to families, from caring for children to helping families deal with the everyday stresses that can wear them down over time.

Take today and give your nanny her own "spoonful of sugar," by letting her know just how much you appreciate her.
