Windsor Castle looking for new “Head Housekeeper”

The British Royal Household recently posted an advertisement for a new Head Housekeeper at Windsor Castle on their website. According to the job description, applicants must have an "in-depth understanding of the highest standards of services and practices in housekeeping."

Located in Berkshire, Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. It is Queen Elizabeth II's main weekend retreat and is also used for state banquets and other major events. In recent years, it has become a popular tourist destination, attracting over one million visitors annually.

The head housekeeper will manage staff and ensure the castle and surrounding ares are up to Royal standards. In addition to Windsor, the employee will also oversee operations at Frogmore House, a currently unoccupied home located half a mile south of the castle. In both locations, the holder of this position will "ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and general upkeep of all accommodation."

In a profile on the Royal Household's website, Jane Douglas, the housekeeping supervisor at Buckingham Palace, said that anyone who desires to work for an elite household must be professional, humble and always desiring to learn something new.

"Additionally, you have to be self-motivated, be able to work well in a team and be able to provide exceptional service," Douglas said.
