Oprah Winfrey’s former personal chef shares success story

Rosie Daley, Oprah's former personal chef, can credit her success to a lot of culinary flair and a little luck. Daley had been working as a chef at an exclusive health spa in California before she rose to fame as the media mogul's personal chef in the early 1990s.

It turned out the healthy meal Daley cooked for Oprah at the spa that ended up changing her life for the better. "I had a meal that was so incredible, I couldn't possibly believe that it was low-fat and low-calorie," Oprah once said on her talk show. "So, after I finished the meal, I went into the kitchen to find out who cooked it. Who was responsible?"

Oprah immediately hired Daley as her own personal chef. In addition to preparing healthy and delicious meals for the famous talk show host, Daley was frequently in the spotlight too. She often shared her tasty recipes—such as her cream-less corn chowder and un-fried French fries—with America. In fact, Daley's recipes were so popular that she and Oprah combined forces to create a cookbook titled "In the Kitchen with Rosie: Oprah's Favorite Recipes." The collection instantly became a bestseller and has since sold six million copies.

In a recent segment of "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" Daley looks back at that afternoon at the spa and smiles, knowing it helped her achieve tremendous success.
