President Obama to attend wedding of personal chef

Sam Kass, private chef to the President and his family, has been featured on our blog before, but this time it’s to demonstrate the powerful place personal cooks hold in their employers lives. President Barack Obama will be attending Kass’s wedding over Labor Day weekend to MSNBC host Alex Wagner in New York, an honor for anyone regardless of who they work for.

According to Talk of the Sound, President Obama will be attending three fundraisers over the holiday weekend before attending the Kass/Wagner wedding on Saturday at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Pocantico Hills, New York. Kass has worked fro the Obama’s since the President was a senator in Illinois before moving to the White House with them upon the president’s election. He has been a long-time friend of the family and also heads Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! anti-obesity initiative. The president is also rumored to have attended Kass’s bachelor party earlier in the month.

Personal chefs often play an important role in their employer’s lives, controlling their meals and health while providing invaluable advice on nutrition. While not all become as close friends with their employer as Kass is with the Obamas or get a chance to work in such a lofty role, there are major opportunities within this industry, especially in Los Angeles.

For those looking to enter the private cook field, Colonial Domestic Agency provides key job placement assistance, connecting you with the employer that most needs your unique talents. Whether you specialize in a specific cuisine or are a nutrition expert, there are plenty of personal chef jobs throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
