Robert Pattinson to play chauffeur in new film

Robert Pattinson has teamed up with director David Cronenberg once more to star in "Maps to the Stars" as a Los Angeles chauffeur. Also starring Mia Wasikowska, Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Evan Bird and Olivia Williams, the film opened at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is expected for theatrical release in North America in the fall.

According to Digital Spy, Pattinson will be playing a chauffeur and aspiring actor-screenwriter in the film, which centers on a celebrity-obsessed young woman, played by Mia Wasikowska, who comes to LA to work for neurotic actress Havana (Julianne Moore).

Cronenberg's had built his career around cerebral horror films and is known to focus on the human condition, as demonstrated in his 1996 film "Crash" He noted that he struggled to get this latest film picked up by a Hollywood studio because of its negative look at the film industry in LA.

"Are people saying it's mean? The child actor part felt very real. Almost every set I've been on has had someone like that," Pattinson told The LA Times at the Cannes screening of the movie. "Well, Hollywood attracts crazy people, and then you add a lot of money, so…" he finished.

According to The LA Times, it took Cronenberg 10 years to get the movie approved.

While not all LA chauffeurs get to drive around to the home's of stars, it can be a glamorous job. Many chauffeurs in LA are also required to act as personal security and assistants as well, which may require additional training or consideration.

This story only really relates to the criteria of the feed tenuously and talks a bit too much about filmmaking vs. being a chauffeur. We'll run with it, but be mindful in the future.
