Ted Turner’s personal chef shares tips and recipes

For the past 22 years, Karen Averitt has been cooking up tasty and nutritious meals for media mogul Ted Turner. According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the longtime personal chef began working for Turner's ex-wife, Jane Fonda, in her California aerobics studio and eventually made her way to Turner's Montana kitchen. The taste master took time to share some of her tips with the news source. Take a look at the advice below:

  • Creativity: If you're dealing with any dietary restrictions, sometimes it's best to think outside of the box. "Averitt doesn't eat much meat, but she cooks a lot of game and bison because Turner doesn't eat beef," states the news source. "She said she enjoys the creative aspect of cooking fresh, bringing out the subtle and true flavors of what finds its way into her kitchens." She even took the time to share her recipe for bison meatloaf with the news source.
  • Local produce: Averitt tries to incorporate healthy and organically grown produce into her meals. This is why she buys the bulk of her food from local Montana farms. Not only does this improve the overall health and wellbeing of those she cooks for, it also supports the local economy.
  • Seasonal menu: To ensure that what she creates is fresh, Averitt adheres to a seasonal menu. She tells the news source that the key to creating a presentable and delicious meal is balance and moderation.
