‘The Voice’ nanny releases new single

Kat Perkins, the nanny who impressed audiences on "The Voice," has released a new single, inspired by her time on the show and how it influenced her. Despite not winning, Perkins went on to pursue a career in music and has seen success since.

"I jumped back into nannying for a couple months and I just finished my last week." the nanny-turned-singer told Forum News about her time after the show ended.

Perkins is also lining up a national tour, with dates in North Dakota – her home state – Minnesota and others.

"Now is the time to give back … because of all that those people gave to me with their support and their voting and watching," Perkins told the source. "The least that I can do is come back and play for them."

Perkins' will also be performing at the Hope Rocks benefit show, to support the Faith Lodge, a retreat for people coping with serious illnesses or the death of family members. The singer has said that her time on "The Voice" and the resulting musical career have been a "dream come true." She was asked to audition for the show after the judges, including Maroon 5's Adam Levine, saw YouTube videos of her singing.

While the leap from nanny to singer isn't a normal one, nannies often discover unique opportunities throughout their careers. Nannies in Los Angeles in particular may discover a job opening with a celebrity family, giving them the opportunity to mingle with the stars.
